Twinkle lights and the side porch
I love twinkle lights. They give any room and situation the perfect feeling. Today I came home from my day of play to the perfect twinkle lights on the porch. Kat and I opened up the doors and the windows, poured a glass of wine (that I dont think I ever touched come to think of it - but it sounded like the thing to do on a night like tonight), and turned on the 'porch mix' consisting of nothing but Mr. Amos Lee, Ray Lamontagne, Ryan Adams and a little Van Morison....everything you want to dance to with a boy some day. We wrapped up in blankets and just giggled the kind of giggles that make your tummy hurt. Katie joined us after she got over the cheesiness of the setting.
I think many of the worlds problems are going to be solved on that porch. Whatever we say on the porch sounds smart and justified and notable. Somehow we sit on the porch and figure everything out with perfect clarity and then the moment the twinkle lights go off and we come inside we aren't so sure of the brilliant conclusions drawn among the twinkle and the serenity of the side porch. But for the 45 minutes on the porch a few times a week - we know it all and could write a book on any subject.
Tonight was a great porch night after a great weekend.
